Dealing with Self-labels

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

“I’m no good,” “I’m the plain one, not the pretty one,” “I’ll never amount to anything.”

Or do you hear statements in your head like “You’re lazy”, “He’s the good one, you’re the bad one” and believe that this status is a permanent condition and not “fixable.”

Above are self-labels highlighted in an article I recently read. Are these or similar self-labels you subscribe to?

If you do, you may want to ask yourself “Do these statements have any foundation or basis for the truth?”

Would you like to treat yourself in a fair manner and not self-sabotage by believing unfair negative labels perhaps applied to you by someone else long ago?

If you do, try the exercise in this article.
